Happy Independence Day

“Right is still right, even if you stand by yourself.” -Honorable Clarence Thomas, U.S. Supreme Court Justice

Independence Day commemorates the passage of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776.

On this Independence Day, we have seen great strides made recently with U.S. Supreme Court rulings. We simultaneously face rampant inflation, high food and energy costs, and governmental policies that are undeniably destructive to the livelihoods of Americans.

Some states are actively working to ban body armor while they continue their age-old push to ban firearms & accessories. Remember that the United States declared its independence over a British attempt to confiscate firearms. From 1768 to 1776, the British vainly attempted gun control in the Colonies. The British feared that the militias in the colonies could become self-determinate if they were allowed to continue possessing firearms.

Your right to self-defense and self-preservation are entirely yours. They are not permissions granted or revoked at the whim of government. People who would use the force of government to deprive individuals of their rights are illegitimate oppressors. They are tyrants.

Tyrants are afraid of their constituents. Good leaders trust their constituents to govern themselves with minimal interference. Good leaders will work tirelessly to protect your rights.

The fight to preserve liberty never ends. There will always be evil people willing to oppress or harm you. Limited government is necessary to secure the border and defend your liberty, but unchecked weaponized government is simply evil.

We must all resolutely hold the line on individual liberty and constrain the government to its proper role. The U.S. Constitution was designed to protect individual liberties, not to suppress them or grant permissions.

We are at a point in history when many have made it their mission to willfully and gleefully become tyrants. It is the deepest responsibility of us all, regardless of color, creed, or political party, to hold the line and never – no matter the justification or cost – yield to tyranny. Yielding to tyranny is surrendering yourself to evil.

May God bless you, may your Independence Day celebration be joyful, and may God bless the United States of America.

“Fight the dragons that guard the gates of the treasure you wish to obtain.”

-Jordan Peterson
